St Barts took a direct hit from a strong Cat 5 that caused damage---there were no deaths,  injuries, or looting.  Just hard working locals getting with pride in their home getting things back in order.   Fortunately, this island is very well run and much of the infrastructure has been placed underground.  As of this date power is being restored to large parts of the island.

Flamands Blue had slight damage to the roof and a lower railing but it's being repaired, cleaned and ready for our first Guests of the season November 5.  We have several bookings but open from November 12 to Dec 23 as I write this.

As stated on the phone, I’m happy to write up some comments and reviews of some of the things we did while staying at Flamands Blue in beautiful St. Barts, and happy to share the following thoughts:

Jicky Marine catamaran sailing trip with snorkeling at Colombiier beach - MAGNIFICENT, FIRST CLASS, great value at 99 Euro per person, super-nice and helpful staff, just an absolutely fabulous experience, for anyone who enjoys the outdoors, the ocean, sailing, snorkeling, or just an excursion a little different from the everyday, this is it!  I would put it on your must-do list.  Everything about them was perfect. 

Santa Fe restaurant - very French, the true French experience, very, very good food and service, superb views from atop the mountain.  We read many online reviews that called it ‘must-do’ for at least one meal while in St. Barts and we would agree.  Lunch probably moreso than dinner because of the beautiful view.

Taiwana hotel down from the Villa on Flamands, restaurant and beach.  VERY accommodating, super-nice, friendly, welcomed us with open arms and friendly attitude.  We spent some money there, lunches, dinner, drinks and we used their pool, beach, chairs, towels - what was nice was they had no ‘expectation’ of us, no requirement or minimum expenditure - just happy to serve and show us a nice time.  Lunchtime on Friday the beachside restaurant at Taiwana was packed, so it was very nice to see them doing a good business.  Taiwana provided all we needed as far as beach, pool, restaurant and gym.  You should call Alexandre Arfi, Director of Operations.  He introduced himself to us and checked in with us multiple times to ensure we were enjoying our time there.

Patisserie (bakery) up the hill from Flamands Blue - we unfortunately didn’t discover this place until we were on our way to the airport to leave, but they have everything from sandwiches, pastries, fresh bread, etc. 

Our gift to Flamands Blue - French coffee press :-) as well as some rum and vodka that we didn’t finish; they’re on the top shelf in the kitchen.

Can’t think of much else right now - we wanted to go heavy on relaxation, which we did.  You are a great host, even from thousands of miles away.    Thanks for everything mon ami!!

New Blog!

Welcome, Flamands Blue has a brand new website---starting today!

This blog will be great for those inquiring to stay, along with existing Guests,  so I can add updated information immediately.   These items will include travel info.,  new restaurant openings, beaches and all other details for enjoying the villa on St Barts.

Caroline and I were on the island late November/early December for a great trip.  As always, we arrange some villa maintenance, but always find time to enjoy our favorite island, too.

Our Christmas/New Year's Guests departed Jan 6th and new ones came that afternoon.  Jen and her husband from Colorado booked for 14 nights and their friends came in the middle of their vacation to join them for 10 nights.   They told me what a great time they had and are sending photos for a trip report, soon.  I spoke with them a couple of times during their trip and she told me they were "eating and hiking their way across St Barts!"   See their trip report.
